Anglu Xuereb, deputy leader of Azzjoni Nazzjonali, has found himself in conflict with the Emigrants’ Commission.

Commission Director Mgr Philip Calleja denounced the poster at Balzan square, showing a photo of Mr Xuereb and carrying a threat that his party would close down the open centre in the town. Balzan is in the district Mr Xuereb is contesting.

Mgr Calleja said the Good Shepherd Refugee Open Centre in Balzan is run by the Emigrants’ Commission which is providing shelter to 180 persons.

He said in a statement that the Commission could assure Mr Xuereb it would never allow him to stop it doing charitable acts.
