PM Will not take over Environment Ministry

Malta Independent Thursday, 14 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

A spokesman for the Nationalist Party yesterday confirmed that it is not the Prime Minister’s intention to take over the Environment Ministry.

At a press briefing yesterday, spokesman Simon Busuttil confirmed that if elected to another term in office, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi will not take the whole ministry under his wing, but simply the Malta Environment and Planning Authority in its entirety. In addition, Dr Gonzi is expected to give up the Finance Ministry portfolio, passing it on to another of his team, largely expected to be finance parliamentary secretary Tonio Fenech.

Dr Busuttil also confirmed that the PN’s electoral manifesto will be made public this coming Saturday once it has received the rubber stamp of the PN general council. It has already been approved by the PN’s national executive.
