The site under study for the installation of offshore wind farms is Hurd’s Bank, The Malta Independent has learned.

PN spokesman Simon Busuttil said the government was in discussions with both the Scottish authorities as well as a commercial Scottish company to explore the viability of the site.

Hurd’s Bank, which lies 22 kilometres due east of Valletta, is currently used as an anchoring point for commercial naval traffic and is also known to be a fishing ground.
