The Two faces of Eve

From Mr C.J. Buttigieg

Up to a few months ago, Daphne Caruana Galizia was criticising the Nationalist government. She urged the Prime Minister to get rid of Minister Jesmond Mugliett and kept up a constant barrage of criticism against Tonio Borg for his conservative views. She even challenged the Prime Minister himself about his refusal to introduce divorce legislation.

Now, Daphne has been transformed. She finds absolutely nothing wrong with the PN government she criticised so fiercely a few months ago. This metamorphosis coincides with the start of the PN election campaign, in which the billboards and newspaper advertisement campaigns are practically rehashes of her columns. Maybe she’s actually writing them herself, in which case it would explain her sudden change of heart. If she is preparing the PN propaganda material, then she cannot criticise the political party for which she is working. She won’t kill the goose that lays the golden eggs, will she?

It would be pertinent to ask in which capacity Daphne Caruana Galizia is acting when she writes her column in your newspaper: an unbiased columnist or the PN media campaign guru?

Charles J Buttigieg
