AD Exposed

Malta Independent Tuesday, 19 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

AD exponents never cease to amaze me with the multi-directional levels they stoop to. I am referring to the letter from Edward Fenech (TMID, 15 February) where he exposed what he seems to think is my darkest secret, namely that I work as communications coordinator. What does my employment have to do with the whole coalition scenario and the issues in question?

Or is it yet another case of attacking whoever has the idea of not agreeing with them on a personal and not on an issue level? I, in my personal capacity, referred to coalition as a myth, as I am convinced that Alternattiva Demokratika, a double misnomer if ever I saw one, will not get a seat. A better name would be Alternative Agenda, an agenda which has now been brought to light by Rene Rossignaud who was disgusted at the approach taken by them and left, publicly declaring that AD are only out to target traditional PN voters.

Let me remind Edward Fenech and readers of some facts –

Arnold Cassola has proved beyond a doubt, in his letter Who pays the fines for hunting in spring? (TMIS, 10 February) of scaremongering and being, at best, misinformed on the other myth of the fines regarding spring hunting;

Harry Vassallo, in an article published had declared that the government has “punished all hunters indiscriminately” (The Times, 18 May 2007 – A political Barishnikov) when the spring hunting season was cut short after the massacre of birds of prey last year. Just a few days before, and even now, AD had are openly against spring hunting in the first place.

This would smack of “a silly attitude of opposition for opposition’s sake” as had been described then in Dr Victor Scerri’s (PN president) letter When Harry went silly, were it not now blatantly obvious that it is not silly at all but part of a hidden agenda to erode PN votes.

The value of issues, and positions vis-a-vis these same issues count for nothing as long as there is sniping at PN!

The final anomaly that AD represents is its insistence on a coalition when they have for years expounded on their conspiracy theory of the existence of an imaginary coalition which they call MLPN! They don’t seem to mind coalitions named MLPAD however.

Mr Fenech, the breath of fresh air that you are trying to have us believe you are is not fresh at all, but smells rotten!
