Acupuncture Clinic transferred to Mater Dei

Malta Independent Thursday, 28 February 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Two new clinics have just opened at Mater Dei Hospital, providing the same acupuncture services as those given at the health clinic in Floriana. Similar services will continue to be given from the Gozo General Hospital and from Kordin.

This service was given for these last 15 years from the health centre in Floriana.

At Mater Dei the services started being given yesterday, on weekdays between 8am and noon, and the occasion was marked by a Chinese government donation of $30,000 in medical apparatus.

Health Minister Louis Deguara said the service is offered by qualified doctors.

Today, he added, it is known that Chinese medicine is complementary and compatible with Western medicine. Kordin Centre for Chinese Medicine has been established for the last 15 years and is the only centre of this type in the Mediterranean. It will continue to add value to Mater Dei as a hospital of excellence in the Mediterranean region.
