Student Awarded first BOV Prize in mathematics

The first edition of the BOV Prize in Mathematics was awarded to Andre Xuereb, a student of the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Malta who achieved the highest marks in the subject in the fourth year of the B.Sc course.

Mr Xuereb was presented with a certificate commemorating this award by Karl Spiteri, Manager Corporate Branding and Quality, in the presence of Prof. Anton Buhagiar from the Faculty of Mathematics.

Speaking during the presentation Mr Spiteri said: “The concept of the BOV Prize in Mathematics is to promote excellence in the subject and aims to reward those students who work hardest and achieve the best results. Education forms a very important part of Bank of Valletta’s commitment towards the community and is one of the main pillars within the bank’s extensive Community Programme.

“I take this opportunity to congratulate Andre Xuereb for his achievement and look forward to present this award to other top students in the coming years,” concluded Mr Spiteri.

Prof Buhagiar also congratulated Mr Xuereb for his achievement and said, Andre was a very consistent student and always achieved top results. “Through this award, held in conjunction with the Faculty of Science of the University of Malta, we encourage students to strive to achieve good results. This year we managed to register some of the top marks ever achieved within the faculty. I would like to thank Bank of Valletta for its support and hope that other students see this as a good opportunity to excel in their field of studies”.
