Five Seminarians to be instituted lectors

Malta Independent Saturday, 19 April 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

The Archbishop, Mgr Paul Cremona OP, on Thursday will institute five seminarians as lectors. The ceremony will be held during a Mass at the parish of Our Saviour, Lija at 6.30pm.

The five seminarians, who are in the fifth year of their priestly formation, are Noel Borg from the parish of St Helen, Birkirkara; Marc Andrè Camilleri from Lija; Mark Ellul from the parish of St Sebastian, Qormi; Stefan Galea from the parish of the Nativity of Our Lady, Naxxar; and Emmanuel Schembri from the parish of Christ the King, Paola.

The Ministry of Lectorate marks another step in the priestly formation of the seminarians. As Lectors they are officially entrusted with the proclamation of God’s Word during the liturgy; they endeavour to help the faithful receive the sacraments worthily; and they share the message of salvation with their fellow brothers and sisters, especially those who have not yet experienced it.

The seminary community is asking for prayers for more vocations and also that the Lord may bless all seminarians so they may be faithful shepherds according to God’s heart.
