Malta Labour Party acting leader Charles Mangion yesterday denied that any member of the party administration had urged Dr George Abela not to contest the leadership election, with a promise that he would instead be proposed by the party to be appointed President of Malta.

Rebutting what he claimed were allegations Dr Abela made during the programme Dissett on Tuesday, Dr Mangion said he had consulted all the members of the party administration and he could therefore confirm that no one from the current party’s administration had made such a proposal to Dr Abela.
