The MATSEC Board said yesterday that the Advanced level examination paper in Chemistry (Paper 1) held yesterday had a mistake in question 7, which carried six per cent towards the final mark.

The chemical “ethanol” as printed, which made the question unworkable, the board said, should have read “1-butanol”.

The full marks allotted to the question are being awarded to all candidates, the board added.
