Man Seriously injured in assault

A 38-year-old man from Uzbekistan was seriously injured on Monday evening at Birkirkara Road, St Julian’s, when he was assaulted by someone wielding a cutting and pointed instrument, the police said.

The police were informed of the incident at around 8.40pm, when the man was admitted at Mater Dei Hospital. He was certified to be seriously injured, but not in danger of dying.

Magistrate Joseph Apap Bologna was informed of the case and appointed several experts to assist in an inquiry.

Police investigations are still under way.
