A Mosta man was on Monday given a six-month prison term suspended for two years after pleading guilty to attempting to seriously injure two police officers by trying to stab them with a syringe.
Jean Paul Mamo, 31, from St Paul's Bay was due to be interviewed by the police in connection with some drug related cases last Sunday.
He pleaded guilty to attempting to seriously injure the two officers, breaching the peace and threatening the same officers.
Before the court passed judgment, the prosecution conceded that the accused had apologised for his actions.
Police inspectors Robert Vella and Edmond Cuschieri prosecuted while Dr Arthur Azzopardi appeared for the accused.
