Year In jail for theft

A Gozitan man was jailed for a year yesterday after he pleaded guilty to stealing a number of items from a car parked in Victoria on 11 May at 1.45pm.

Martin Joseph Xuereb, 35, was charged with stealing a pair of spectacles worth e115.11, a spectacle case, e100 in cash, a mobile phone, a handbag, purse and a calculator at the detriment of Rita Sultana, as well as relapsing.

In handing down his judgment Magistrate Anthony Ellul considered Xuereb’s early guilty plea and his collaboration with the police.

Police Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
