Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party condemns all forms of cruelty to animals. Referring to the incident which took place between last Saturday and Sunday at San Gwann, when a dog was burnt alive, Simon Galea – AD Spokesperson on Agriculture and Animal Welfare emphasised the need for harsher penalties plus an education campaign on a national level. While praising the San Gwann local council for the public appeal asking for information anyone can have in order for the police to arraign the culprit/s, Mr Galea suggested that local councils should get more actively involved in animal welfare awareness by organising more activities related to the issue. Mr Galea said that the way we treat animals reflects the level of respect we have towards each other.
