Dr Clare Thake Vassallo has been appointed chairman of the Public Broadcasting Services board of directors, the Department of Information said yesterday. In the same statement the DOI said that the Malta Song Board has been disbanded.

The other members of the PBS board of directors are Joe Bonello, Lara Tonna, Josef N. Grech and Isabelle Gatt.

Dr Thake Vassallo had been a member of the same board between 2000 and 2004.

The responsibility of the Malta Song Board will be passed on to the PBS board which, in its first meeting, must discuss the setting up of a structure within the same board to take over the functions of the Malta Song Board.
