Carmelo Abela, Labour Party spokesman on education, said the opposition welcomed the launch of the secondary schools survey on obesity and pointed out that the Labour Party had made various proposals to encourage wider participation in physical and sports activities, including at school, and those concerned, including the government, should consider these proposals.

Mr Abela also praised the document drawn up by the Education Department, promoting the concept of health eating. Its HELP plan, Healthy Eating Lifestyle Plan, should be complemented with urgent action promoting physical and sports activities at school.
