He was speaking when he met the MCESD newly appointed executive secretary Joseph Bonello.

In a press conference at Castille, MCESD chairman Sonny Portelli explained that Mr Bonello had extensive experience in the field of management in the manufacturing industry. Furthermore, he added, Mr Bonello knew how the MCESD and the constituted bodies work.

Referring to the executive secretary’s role within the MCESD, Dr Gonzi said that it was a very important role within the structure.

The prime minister said that dialogue with the constituted bodies is high on the government’s agenda as can be clearly seen with the appointment of a parliamentary secretary for public dialogue.

Dr Gonzi said that Dr Said has the important role of liasing with the government and the council.

The Malta Council for Economic and Social Development (MCESD) is one of the country’s most effective instruments for bringing about sustainable development, he said.
