Morena has just won the most important prize during the Universong International Music Festival 2008, which is a song contest for singers and songwriters organised in the Canary Islands – Spain.

This happened thanks to her winning the prestigious festival The Malta International TV Song Festival, last December. Her participation was also made possible thanks to Hamilton Travel Ltd.

Morena participated in this international festival with her new single Tattoo penned by Mark Amaira and composed by Renato Briffa. In all, Morena’s team won three different prizes; that is Morena won the “Grand Prix” and the “Best Interpretation”; while composer Renato won the “Most Original Song”.

Morena’s competitors included entries from Spain, Italy, Russia, Moldova, Romania, Turkey, Macedonia, Germany, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, Poland, Lithuania, Venezuela, USA, Cyprus and Bulgaria.

In all there were 11 judges. These included Michel Hennet Sotomayor, who was one of the four singers of the group D’NASH who represented Spain in last year’s “Eurovision Song Contest”. Also, the singer of one of the most famous rock bands in Spain, Asfalto, expressed his wish to record a duet with Morena.

It is interesting to note that local singer Geordie, who was also participating, won the second price in this festival.
