Two Children critical after Cospicua crash

Two children are in critical condition after the car they were riding in was involved in collision with a concrete mixer in a tunnel.

The accident happened yesterday at about 11am in Triq it-Tlett Ibliet, Cospicua, the police said.

The car, a Hyundai, was being driven by a foreigner and the concrete bowser by a 40-year-old man from Qormi.

The two children, a 12-year-old from Marsa and a 15-year-old foreigner, were riding in the back of the car.

Together with the car driver they were conveyed to hospital but only they were certified to be in critical condition.

The car driver was slightly injured while the bowser driver was treated for shock.

Duty Magistrate Tonio Micallef Trigona is conducting an inquiry and has appointed several experts to assist him. Police investigations are still under way.

A 60-year-old man was also in critical condition yesterday after falling from the height of one storey while carrying out construction works in San Gwann, police said.
