Labour Youth Forum Supports gender reassigned woman who wants to marry

The Labour Youth Forum (Forum Zghazagh Laburisti – FZL) has expressed support for Joanne Cassar, who underwent sexual reassignment surgery, but has not yet been granted the right to marry a man.

On Tuesday, Ms Cassar filed a Constitutional application as she continues to battle for the right to marry a man, after she was banned from doing so by a court of appeal.

FZL said that since Ms Cassar underwent irreversible sexual reassignment surgery and is now considered to be a woman, she has every right to civil marriage to a man.

FZL added that it hoped Ms Cassar would not have to take the case to the European Court of Justice, and that she would be able to be rightfully married in Malta.
