Two In court over the weekend

A Libyan man was on Saturday given a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to assault and willful damage.

Amir Mohammed Ahmed, 36, pleaded guilty to assaulting two people through throwing objects at them and causing EUR116 in damage to their property. He also admitted breaching the peace. The court, presided over by magistrate Audrey Demicoli handed down an eight-month prison term suspended for two years.

Meanwhile in a separate case, a 23-year-old Gozitan man was granted bail against a deposit of EUR1,000 and a personal guarantee of EUR4,000 after a brush police officers in Gozo,

John Francis Buttigieg, from Nadur, pleaded not guilty to assaulting and insulting police officers on 1 August in Ghajnsielem. He was also accused of causing EUR55 damage to government property, refusing to give his particulars, resisting arrest and slightly injuring an officer. He also denied breaching the peace.
