Helping The poor youths of the missions

Malta Independent Monday, 4 August 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

I am a Salesian brother who has been working in India for the past 55 years. I want to thank whole-heartedly the mission fund of Mosta for the generous donation of $1,867 they sent me. This will be used to help the poor youths of our mission that are presently learning a trade in our technical school.

These youths reach here from the interior villages where they do not have any possibility of good education. Therefore, we instruct them accordingly and train them in a trade that would improve their future for a happy living in a good moral way. After three years they spend with us, they feel better prepared to face life. This gives them the possibility to help their family and also to raise the standard of living in their respective village.

Ours is indeed a very good apostolate. Most of the youths feel convinced about leading a prosperous life based on religion. In return they seek to spread the good news among their friends. In fact, many villages came to know and believe in Jesus through them. By means of the help, I receive from mission fund and that of other benefactors, we are able to continue our great work among these youths who are so willing and very receptive.

As I thank once again the mission fund, I urge you all to continue sending them used stamps and telecards and financial help, so that they in return would continue supporting u s in our important achievements in the mission.
