Malta’s other athlete in action yesterday, judoka Marcon Bezzina was eliminated after her first – and only – bout early yesterday morning.

She was beaten by Algerian girl Kahina Saida who notched a Waza-ari to beat Bezzina.

The local girl then waited for the repechage bouts, but these never arrived, simply because Saida was beaten by the other two contestants in the section and therefore, there was no need for them to be staged.
