The Animae Gospel Choir made their debut performance last Sunday at the Parish Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, in Fleur de Lys.

The local church community, joined by the choir’s family and friends, crowded the church to celebrate Holy Mass, and were delightfully surprised to listen to Animae’s rendition of various Gospel-style tunes. Towards the end of the Mass, the congregation could not resist clapping and singing heartily to Animae’s interpretation of the all-time favourite Oh Happy Day.

The choir, made up of some of Malta’s finest talents, was formed a couple of months ago, and rehearsals have since then been taking place to refine original arrangements, harmonies and timbre of popular Gospel songs. The choir members are Glen Vella, Pamela, Leontine, Diane Portelli, Christine Camillieri, Angela Spiteri, Anna Azzopardi, Josef Cassar, Josef Tabone and keyboardist Christian Borg.
