Yanika Cassar from Naxxar loves to give a helping hand in the kitchen. However, there is one uncomfortable thing that she needs an answer to. Why does cutting onions make me cry?

Yes, it is true that cutting onions makes you cry! When you cut into an onion, a powerful acid sprays up into the air. If your eyes are in the way of the spray (which is likely), the acid, while not damaging to your skin, will cause your eyes to sting. Immediately, your tear glands start to produce tears until they’ve successfully gotten rid of the irritation.

Chewing gum while peeling onion will keep you from crying… Cool, eh? fttp://www.wonderfulinfo.com
