Vodafone Introduces lower roaming rates

Malta Independent Monday, 1 September 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Vodafone Malta Limited will be reducing its voice roaming rates for calls within the EU (Zone 1) of its Vodafone World roaming tariff plans with effect from 30 August 2008. Outgoing calls will be reduced from e0.58 to e0.53 a minute including VAT and incoming calls from e0.28 to e0.25 a minute including VAT. These rates are below the requirements of the EU Directive.

Rates are valid if calls are originated and terminated within EU member states. Should calls terminate outside the EU, different price points are applicable according to the selected network.

The above rates are applicable to all Vodafone pre-paid and post-paid customers.

In addition, Vodafone Malta has reduced its Vodafone Passport call set-up charge whilst roaming on EU Vodafone Passport networks.

Customers registering to Vodafone Passport can call home or the visited country at the rate of e0.23 per minute. Calls to other countries will be charged at the applicable international calling rate. Whilst roaming on EU Passport Networks (e.g. Vodafone Italy), a set-up charge of e1 is applicable per call, whereas the connection fee of e1.16 is applicable for non-EU roaming Passport Networks (e.g. Vodafone Australia).

While roaming on EU Vodafone Passport Networks, customers are charged e0.70 per 10 minutes of calls received (e.g. Vodafone Italy). The rate for calls received whilst roaming on non-EU Passport Networks is e1.16 per 10 minutes of calls.

“Our customers have been benefiting from reduced roaming prices since 2005 when we had introduced Vodafone Passport and from April 2007 when we had reduced our roaming prices by an average of 40% across the board followed by the introduction of the Vodafone Euro Tariff in August 2007.

These further reductions which go beyond the EU requirements are targeted to give more value to our customers when roaming abroad,” said Marcel Grech Mallia, Business Segment Executive at Vodafone Malta.
