Malta Independent Thursday, 18 September 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

At the last FACE MED meeting in Brussels last Saturday, the Mediterranean members of FACE MED, adopted the trapping memorandum regarding the Maltese socio-cultural tradition of wild finches capturing, which had originally been approved during the FACE MED conference held in Malta last July.

The memorandum will be distributed to all interested parties, including the local authorities.

FACE MED is composed of Mediterranean countries, members of FACE (the Federation of Associations for Hunting and Conservation in the EU), whose representatives of the southern European states set up this permanent group of Mediterranean hunters last May.

FACE MED is a working group specifically concentrating on the problems that are linked with Mediterranean game management culture, operates within FACE and has its operative headquarters at the AECT, the European cultural association in the field of game management, active since 1995 and an associate member of the federation of European hunters.

The members include FACE members of Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Cyprus and Malta, which is represented by the Federation for Hunting and Conservation – Malta.
