Swatar Parish dedicated to St Gorg Preca

Malta Independent Wednesday, 1 October 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

St Gorg Preca is having a parish named after him – the Archbishop, Mgr Pawl Cremona, OP, has established the autonomous zone of Swatar as the parish to carry the first Maltese saint’s name, as from 8 November.

Fr Gordon Refalo (photo), who has been a rector of the zone, will be the first parish priest of the new parish. He was born in Sliema in 1961 and was ordained in 1991. Fr Refalo has been vice-parish priest at San Gejtanu in Hamrun and parish priest at St Lucija and Ta’ l-Ibrag.

The new parish brings the number of parishes in Malta to 71.
