Education and Culture Minister Dolores Cristina urged anyone having important documents about some period of Malta’s history, or which were important nationally, to register them with the National Archives.

She was speaking at a forum about the National Archives and said that the national archives council every two years drew up a report about the state of the archives, to be discussed at a national forum, which was what they were doing just then.

She said Malta would be hosting an international conference of some 200 archivists next year. In Malta, training in the sector was available at a tertiary level and 12 students would be graduating from the University of Malta in a few weeks’ time.
