MLP Calls for contingency plan

Malta Independent Friday, 24 October 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

The Malta Labour Party has appealed to the government to take the necessary measures to contain the effects of the international financial crisis in the best way possible, industry and foreign investment spokesman Carmelo Abela said yesterday.

While it is clear that there are no difficulties in the banking sector, the country is being negatively affected in an indirect way. The government should therefore have a contingency plan.

The MLP was saying this in the light of the problems that some industries are facing. It is imperative that the government takes measures to safeguard jobs and help the country remain competitive.
