Malta will soon be proposing the addition of Spain to the “Group of Four” – Malta, Italy, Cyprus and Greece – who have come together to form a common front within the EU on the illegal immigration issue.

This was reported by the Italian media as having been proposed by Minister for Justice Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici after he met Italian Justice Minister Roberto Maroni last week.

“Every voice from the Mediterranean is important in Brussels to keep our agenda high on the European horizon,” said Dr Mifsud Bonnici.

He is due to visit Spain soon and will be making the proposal to the Spanish government.
