The Malta Environment and Planning Authority (MEPA) determined 622 applications in October and received 484 new ones. The net pending caseload at the end of the month was 4,541.

During October the authority processed 139 notifications of development, which, according to the Development Notification Order 2007, do not require a formal application.

During the same month, 104 Stop and Enforcement notices were issued, 73 in Malta and 31 in Gozo.

In October, 81 enforcement cases were closed, 54 in Malta and 27 in Gozo. Fifty-three enforcement cases were sanctioned by the issue of a sanctionable permit.

Another 26 cases were resolved since owners decided to remove illegal development and comply with the enforcement notice.

During the same month one case was withdrawn by MEPA.
