Following Cabinet’s authorisation, the Finance, Economy and Investment Ministry informed the Privatisation Unit that the government has accepted the recommendations of the Adjudicating Committee regarding the commercialisation of the operation, maintenance and development of the Petroleum Division of Enemalta Corporation and the Business activities undertaken by Mediterranean Offshore Bunkering Company Limited (MOBC).

The government confirmed the adjudicating committee’s recommendation that BB Energy BV be named first ranking bidder. Accordingly, BB Energy BV has been invited to attend a meeting with a view to commence negotiations.

BB Energy BV is registered in the Netherlands and is owned by the Bassatne Group which was established in 1963.

The Group’s main operational focus is oil trading, storage and distribution largely in the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean Region.
