Middlesea Strengthens relationship with St Philip’s Hospital

Malta Independent Friday, 21 November 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Middlesea Insurance plc and St Philip’s Hospital have concluded an agreement which enables a smooth process of acceptance and discharge of insured patients. By means of this agreement a patient who is insured under one of Middlesea’s health insurance policies will not need to pay hospital fees upon discharge as these would be payable directly by Middlesea Insurance on the strength of the Agreement signed by both parties.

The Middlesea/St Philips agreement also lays the foundation for further cooperation between both entities in the future. A benefit which shall come into force with immediate effect relates to favourable hospital prices for routine breast screening. It has been announced that for the next two years women insured with Middlesea Insurance who are 45 years of age and over will be entitled to a special price of e40 in respect of a mammogram carried out at St Philip’s Hospital for screening purposes.

Simon Anastasi, Chief Officer responsible for Health Insurance, commented on the advantages of such a relationship. “Middlesea can boast that it has excellent relationships with all Hospitals and Clinics around Malta. This primarily provides peace of mind but it also guarantees that a high quality medical service is provided to all insured patients.”

Dr Frank Portelli, Director St Philip’s Hospital, commented, “Patients insured with Middlesea will benefit from direct settlement of their hospital expenses – they need not worry about the cost of their Medical Treatment and they can concentrate on getting better – this is what Medical Insurance is all about. When a person falls ill the last thing they should be worrying about is whether their insurance will cover their costs. Over the years, Middlesea has proven itself to be a reliable partner in alleviating the financial concerns of patients and I am personally very pleased to see patients benefiting from this agreement.”
