Malta Independent Saturday, 22 November 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 11 years ago

Chris Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Dialogue and Information, accompanied by Victoria mayor Robert Tabone, saw for himself embellishment works at St George Square, Victoria, being carried out under a local council initiative.

The basic works, including the digging of two channels around the square for services and for rainwater, and concrete laying to prepare for the paving, will be completed next week.

The second phase will see the removal of overhead wires and services, which will be laid anew in the channel dug for them. The square will be illuminated to a design by Italian artist Stefano Dall’Osso, who is working with engineering company Galea Curmi. The lighting will be energy efficient.

The third phase will be the paving.
