Long Live ‘Talent Mosti’

Malta Independent Friday, 23 January 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Ghaqda Filantropika Talent Mosti marked the 25th anniversary since its foundation by a non-stop stream of activities that extended all year round during 2008. Hundreds of locals and tourists had the opportunity to tour the superbly restored 17th century farmhouse from where the busy members of this group function for the common cultural and philanthropic good of society. The beauty and splendour of the farmhouse, that in antiquity used to belong to the nobility of Mallia Tabone family, does not only stem from its indigenous rural architecture, but more importantly from its regenerated role of raising funds to the people in need.

Their commitment towards the popular appreciation of visual arts, literature, folk music, drama and solidarity deserves our gratitude. Talent Mosti’s ambitious activities’ programme last year was crowned by two brilliant publications, one focusing on the 400th anniversary since the foundation of the Mosta parish and the other portraying the anima and the group’s achievements during its 25 years of existence. Talent Mosti does not fall into the pitfall of blind parochial interests, but works hard to render culture closer to the common citizen who finds an oasis of good taste and peace in the old farmhouse courtyard and adjacent rooms where diversified exhibits are on display all year round.

The Mosta Talent Philanthropic Society has been inspired by a profound vision to help people in need through the deepening and widening of popular culture, and this dream has been sustained through the members’ resolute will over the last quarter of a century.

Long live Talent Mosti. It must remain with us to remind the young ones of the times gone by when our forefathers were closer to mother nature. Through their continuous efforts, the members of Talent Mosti are bridging the gap between the hushed past and the destiny of our sovereign nation in an integrated continent.
