Bigoted Opinion

Malta Independent Sunday, 1 March 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

Reference is made to Daphne Caruana Galizia’s article on page 13 (TMIS, 15 February).

Mrs Caruana Galizia’s article beggars belief. When there is so much that is wrong with this country, she chose to sink her venomous fangs into Astrid Vella and FAA. Of course, Joseph Muscat got a passing mention as well.

I wonder, does Mrs Caruana Galizia have an opinion about the years-old promise on breast screening? Or about pre-election promises like the 10 per cent reduction on income tax? Or what about last September’s declaration by Dr Austin Gatt re the reduction in the utility tariffs (when there was still a 95 per cent surcharge) if the price of oil reached $85 a barrel?

Does this fount of wisdom have an opinion about the crippling cost of these utility tariffs, or the soaring cost of living, or the runaway deficit?

She derides those who signed Mrs Vella’s petition and declares that the public now has to take it on trust that Mrs Vella and FAA will not be corrupted. Well, the public had taken GonziPN on trust to deliver its pre-election promises. And look where that has got the public! Lots of half-truths and half-baked misinformation, I would say. Has she an opinion about that?
