For this match Qormi had Steven Tanti and John Williams suspended after having collected three yellow cards each from previous matches.

The game was a ding dong battle with both defences giving little space to the opposing forwards. On the third minute, Qormi won their first short corner , but the White Hart defence came up tops.

At this stage White Hart were more menacing and forced a series of short corners however there was nothing worth noting.

On the 11th Ramon Chircop saved well on a D. Agius effort. Between the 14th and 15th minute White Hart again won two short corners but these again did not create any danger to the Qormi goal.

In the 19th minute a superb save by Vassallo Agius denied Ghio and at the other Chircop brought the house down when he saved a flick which seemed destined to the top right hand corner.

Vassallo Agius once more distinguished himself with a timely save on Magri. On the 30th Tua missed the far post when he deflected a pass by Bartolo. And once more on the stroke of halftime Tua had a chance to put his side one up but failed to connect to a pass by Borg Costanzi.

Within five minutes of the start of the second half, Qormi scored what had to be the decisive goal. Philip Magri ran through the White Hart defence down the left side and pinpointed a pass to the far post where Jonathan Borg was eagerly waiting to tap the ball in.

Qormi kept up the pressure; however from the 51st onwards it was practically White Hart all the way and could have reversed the situation had it not been for a good performance by Ramon Chircop and a fantastic reverse flick by Tua which missed the upright by a hair’s breadth with Chircop beaten.

The final whistle came as a relief to the Qormi side.
