Citizens Await today’s outcome to know their final opponents

Valletta will be waiting anxiously this afternoon to see who their opponents in the 30 May final will be.

The second semi-final between Sliema Wanderers and Marsaxlokk is being played this afternoon with a 3.30pm kick-off.

Both sides will be keen to win and so earn a place in the final, thus moving just one match from European football next season.

However, Sliema must start as hot favourites to save their disappointing season after last Friday’s happenings involving Marsaxlokk when a team player, Claude Mattocks, and team manager Peter Hartshorne, admitted in Court to an attempt to bribe Msida player M. Camilleri.

That piece of news was a big setback for the southern seasiders who, in recent matches, had shown signs of a recovery, even avoiding the Relegation Pool when a few matches ago, it seemed an impossible task.
