Shouldn’t the authorities feel any shame of allowing foreign sailors (British or American) to do our dirty work for us (Royal Navy sailors clean up, TMID, 9 March).

I feel embarrassed each time I read about it.

How lazy and incompetent can we be, not to carry out this trivial work ourselves?

Is this why the local authorities and the government are reluctant to clean Malta up on a regular basis, hoping that when a foreign ship comes in they will do the work for us? What’s next? Asking them to repair our potholes for us?

How pathetic! Please make a stop to this embarrassing situation and show some pride.
