qualify as the first Maltese international Brevet judge in Artistic Gymnastics after a one week intensive course held in Cyprus by FIG (Federation Internationale de Gymnastique) and the Cyprus Gymnastics Federation.

Francesca Borg started her career in judging when she was still 15 years old. A course for judges was conducted by a British tutor and a good number of candidates managed to qualify for the very first time in Malta as club judges. The club has not stopped there as, since then, they have undergone other courses for them to qualify at a higher level. The last qualifications were up to National Judges.

Francesca was still a gymnast and formed part of the national team. She was the national champion and represented her club and Malta abroad on numerous occasions, gaining several titles nationally and internationally. In Dublin and Belgium Francesca was judged as the overall best scorer. She represented Malta in the last Games for European Small States in Monaco and the international school Games held in Greece.

After the Games for European Small States, she resigned from Artistic Gymnastics and joined a Team in TeamGym, a new discipline in Gymnastics, where she had the opportunity to represent Malta in the European championships held in Ghent, last October.

At 17 years she qualified as a regional Judge and after she had judged both locally and internationally she took another step in another course to become a National Judge, together with other Maltese Judges.

Francesca passed the exam with high marks after five hours of practical and another five hours on Theory. Francesca is now qualified to judge in such high competition such as the GSSE, Mediterranean Games, Island Games, ISF Games and Gymnasia Games. She is now the youngest FIG Judge in Gymnastics.
