On Wednesday 15 April, the government invited mayors and executive secretaries for the launch of the local councils’ reform.

This presentation was held at Castille, within a government building, at no cost for the government.

On Tuesday, 21 April, the government held a business breakfast in a hotel, engaged the services of a presenter and must have spent hundreds of euros to... practically have Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said repeat the same things they had said a week before.

This time, however, the taxpayers footed the bill.

At a time when the government is continuously talking about the need to be careful because of the financial crisis, it should be the first to set an example by not spending money unnecessarily.
