Reference is being made to the article Odds & Ends (TMID, 20 April).

The meetings listed hereunder were carried out during the month of March 2009.

These meetings were held to discuss works which have been completed and various other projects which the council intends to carry out in the near future:- Coordination meetings with ADT, council meeting, meeting with Mario Galea, Joint Committee meetings; locality meeting; Paceville locality meeting; Conference for mayors and vice mayors; various meetings with MEPA, various meetings with Chris Said; various meeting with Mario de Marco; Supply and installation of playing equipment in Gnien Saver Zarb; Paving of Triq Sant Elia.

The list is endless. However it’s a pity that the council was judged “so lazy” over a petty mistake which was repeated by many local councils who definitely have more important things to worry about.

A report of works carried out by the local council from April 2008 till March 2009 is available from the Councils’ Administrative Office.

St Julian’s

Editorial note:Yes, it’s true that the St Julian’s local council was not the only council to have made a mistake in Lija mayor Ian Castaldi Paris’ name – and Odds & Ends mentioned two others on 20 April, while more councils repeated the same mistake in the following days – but Mr Bonello was the only mayor who found time in spite of his busy schedule to reply to the comment.

Condemning an arson attack on a fellow mayor does not seem to be one of the “more important” things for Mr Bonello, and so the council just forwarded an email sent earlier by another council which had originally made the mistake in the mayor’s name – they simply replaced the name of the locality.
