It is a good move to make the local councils more accountable to residents. Some councils are rubbish. As things are, they just ignore residents.

The residents I speak to do not have a great deal of faith in councils. A trend that seems to show itself in Malta is you scratch my back and I will scratch yours.

That is not a true democratic vote. In the UK you can sue local councils. The MEPs are now promising the world – what have they done for the Maltese in five years?

Name me one thing, or is it to get on the gravy train?
