PN’s Arrogance and presumptuousness

Malta Independent Sunday, 24 May 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

The ever-increasing arrogance and presumptuousness of this government knows no bounds! The latest evidence of this comes to the fore with the rabid statements made by PN candidate Vince Farrugia and Finance Minister Tonio Fenech. Both of them said that “the PN should win all five MEP seats in the 6 June election. “And if there is a sixth seat, that too should go to the PN”, hollered Tonio Fenech

Such arrogant statements prove how true that well-known saying is: “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely”. After almost 21 years in government, these people believe that no other political party has a right to take power from their hands. They seem to believe that all the other political parties exist only to give a semblance of democracy, but never to hold power, just as Robert Mugabe believes.

It is now up to Maltese and Gozitan voters to stand up to this dangerous form of political arrogance and presumptuousness, by giving the PN a lesson they will never forget on 6 June. It is simply not enough to stay at home and not vote on 6 June. The duty of all those who cherish true democracy, and do not want to see our country become very similar to a one party State, is to go and give Labour a resounding victory on 6 June.

Maybe then the PN government will be brought to its senses
