The Value of money

Malta Independent Saturday, 27 June 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 16 years ago

Your leader (The value of money, TMID, 22 June) is eye opening, but can you tell me when did the cost of living ever go down? It’s always the same story repeated and repeated.

The trouble is that business people keep putting up their prices. I was told by many foreigners that the restaurants are as expensive as France, UK, Italy and Germany. One can buy cheaper clothes in these countries than here. It is useless for the President of Hotels and Restaurants Association to say that prices have not gone up. They have and how! Just go to any decent restaurant and see the prices.

What one cannot understand is wherever one goes, the places are always full...

All bonds are taken up in no time, people are still traveling in record numbers and cars are still being bought.

It’s really incredible how people cope, weddings are always big, hairdressers are full and their prices are not cheap.

This island is a wonder of wonders.
