Bulgarian Soprano in Swieqi Foundation concert with Sliema band

Soprano Andrijana Jordanova from Bulgaria will perform with the Sliema Band in a Vocal and Musical Programme organized by the Swieqi Local Council on Friday 11 September. Starting at 8pm, the programme includes the selection from The Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Weber; Puccini in Concert by Willy Hautvast; the Maltese folk suite Maltesina by Carmelo Pace; Spanish Gypsy Dance by Pascal Marquina; flutist Silvio Zammit will perform as soloist on the “ottavino” his own arrangement of Paganini’s famous Il Carnevale di Venezia.

Ms Jordanova will sing the Vilja aria from Franz Lehar’s The Merry Widow, the popular Italian and Neapolitan songs La Spagnola and Funiculi’ Funicula’ ; She graduated in music and singing from the leading music institutes of Bulgaria and has sung in opera theatres in various countries spreading Bulgaria’s rich tradition in music and singing having produced several of Europe’s most famous tenors, baritones and sopranos.. It is a great honour for the Sliema Band to have her as the leading vocal performer in this high calibre concert.

She will be joined by pop singer Vittorio Gauci in rendering as duetto Andrea Bocelli’s Con te partiro’ Vittorio Gauci will also sing popular songs Volare, O sole mio and o surdato ‘nnamurato.

This concert will mark Swieqi Day and the foundation of its local council.

The Sliema Band will conclude the Swieqi Foundation Vocal and Musical Concert with the Inno Sliema by Cardenio Botti and Malta’s national anthem. Mro Ronnie Debattista FLCM will conduct; presentation by Mario Fenech.
