For the special occasion of the 10th anniversary of Mro Emanuel Spagnol’s appointment as musical director of the Nicolo Isouard Philharmonic Society of Mosta, the Mosta Band will be presenting a special anniversary concert on Sunday, 18 October, at 7pm, at the Sir Temi Zammit Hall, University of Malta, Msida.
In this concert, the band will perform a new work for band, ‘Anniversary Concert Overture’ composed by Mro Emanuel Spagnol himself, written especially for this concert. Besides other works, during this concert one can listen to the overture from the Opera Cimarosa by Nicolo Isouard, arranged by Mro Victor Zammit, the Malta Suite by Charles Camilleri who passed away earlier this year, again arranged for band by Victor Zammit, which also happens to be the 20th anniversary of this arrangement. After the interval, the band will perform the festival overture La Grande Pasqua Russa by Rimsky Korsakov, the Trio from the opera I Lombardi by Giuseppe Verdi with soloists from the same band. The concert comes to an end with the popular ballet Bolero by Maurice Ravel.
Mro Emanuel Spagnol became the musical director of the Nicolo Isouard Philharmonic Society in the year 1999, and is still occupying this role. He is also the musical director of the Prince of Wales Own Band Club of Vittoriosa where this year he is celebrating his 20th year as its musical director. Mro Spagnol, together with the Mosta band, conducted various grand annual concerts in most of Malta’s most major venues, and also abroad like in Switzerland, Canada and the United States of America. Mro Spagnol is also a professional musician as the Principal Horn Player with the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he has also conducted several times.
For this special concert, tickets are available free of charge from the Nicolo Isouard Club in Mosta or from the Committee Members of the same band club.
