The Middlesea Group has teamed up with InsFocus Systems for the provision and deployment of an Insurance and Reinsurance Business Intelligence solution for Middlesea Insurance.

Middlesea Insurance is one of the largest insurance companies in Malta and transacts an array of insurance products ranging from commercial lines business, personal lines insurance, health and life. Established more than 25 years ago, Middlesea processes detailed information content from its systems to enable critical operational and strategic decisions.

The InsFocus BI system for insurance (www.insfocus.com) shall replace the current information systems at Middlesea with custom-made data model integrating the group’s operational systems with InsFocus insurance-specific data warehousing solutions.

“InsFocus provides a unique value proposition in providing an insurance specific data model. Most other solutions tend to be generic data warehousing solutions focusing on the technology rather than the insurance business.

InsFocus’s competitive advantage lies in its understanding of core insurance and reinsurance concepts and the merging of technology with these concepts,” says Bernard Fenech, Middlesea’s Chief Officer for Group IT.

InsFocus is working with key stakeholders at Middlesea to ensure participation and ownership of key underwriting, claims and reinsurance components.

The project was launched in July and its first phase has already been delivered and in daily use.

It is expected to be fully implemented by April.
