Health Minister Joe Cassar yesterday addressed a gathering at Mater Dei Hospital which attended the unveiling of a statue outside the hospital’s entrance.
The bronze statue is the work of Christopher Ebejer and was cast at Joseph Chetcuti’s foundry. It shows a sad-looking Madonna being compassionate with the sick and holding the Baby Jesus.
Dr Cassar said people’s health did not just depend on the body’s functionality, but comprised everything. According to the World Health Organisation many factors, such as social and psychological, and the spiritual dimension of life all contribute to health. Archbishop Paul Cremona also attended.
